MORE ABOUT THE RACE

Growing up with a police officer father and a pastor grandfather Monroe Nichols brings a crime prevention focus to public safety. He’ll build new mentoring programs and community centers, but also get repeat offenders off the street by replicating legislation he passed as a state legislator in the city of Tulsa, finally clearing the backlog of rape kits at TPD.

Monroe Nichols has a plan to end homelessness by 2030 by replacing blighted properties with 6,000 affordable housing units by 2028 and addressing mental health and substance abuse issues by providing centralized wrap-around services. He’s a straight-talking, problem-solving leader.

Monroe has spent the last 15 months campaigning across Tulsa meeting with voters from every corner of the city.

Holding Karen Keith accountable for her actions while serving Tulsa County as a county commissioner since 2008 is an important component in the race for Tulsa Mayor. Specifically, her inaction around homelessness and the heartbreaking problems at the Tulsa County Juvenile Justice Facility are important for voters to know more about. Sixty percent of voters found the allegation of abuse at the juvenile facility under Keith’s leadership either a very or somewhat convincing reason to not support her as Tulsa’s next mayor.

Key Messaging: Voters of all political parties need to see on the evening news that Karen Keith’s failures as a leader are evident—under her watch, homelessness rose, and the Tulsa County Juvenile Facility became a center of abuse.
